REDESIGNING THE MODERN FRIDGE
As my senior capstone, I chose to redesign the fridge to better prevent food waste. This research-based project incorporates modularity and object detection technology in a tangible solution.

PROJECT BRIEF
to redesign the modern fridge by keeping track of what's inside and preserving food for longer periods of time in order to reduce food waste.

FOOD WASTE AT A CONSUMER LEVEL
We're considered bad hosts if we run out of food while having guests over.
We buy food we're craving instead of eating food in our home.
Dates on food products can mean "sell by", "best by",
or "use by".
Unique individuals require modular solutions.




The Concept
A fridge that combines modularity and object detection technology to cater to specific people's needs and reduce the energy and stress of buying groceries and keeping them fresh.








HOW DOES IT WORK?
The base of the fridge would come as a standard when purchased, while unique shelves, compartments, and drawers can be mixed and matched. This ensures that each space in your fridge is utilized for its intended purpose, which keeps your food fresh for longer.

ARTIFICIaL INTELLIGENCE
Built-in cameras with artificial intelligence communicate with the FRIGO app to tell you what's inside your fridge.

The information sent to the app then provides:
